SKY
Sky photography may incorporate several disciplines and may include other elements such as water or land but I consider any photo with a primary emphasis on the sky above to be in this category. It may be a sunset or sunrise or even astrophotography but the purpose of the photo is to cause one to look up and take in what is happening in the heavens.
Columbia River Gorge from Crown Point Vista House. I love the way that the clouds broke up just in time for a sunrise beam to shine down and point almost directly to Beacon Rock.
Redondo Beach, Washington. Although this could be considered water or sunset, I think the story of the photo here has to be the sky and clouds and the drama that was captured.
There is just something about closing a day out with a beautiful sunset... a miracle of God's hand for anyone paying attention.
Sunset at Brown's Point. I love the similarity in shapes between the driftwood of the foreground and the clouds of the sky with the water and sunset between.
Brown's Point, Washingon. The color in this image actually required minimal editing to achieve the desired result. Although the lighthouse is prominent I love the sunset and the silhouette of the person that was created in this photo.
Brown's Point, Washington. Another sunset that required minimal edit as it was one of those evenings where the drama of the passing storm and the light collided in a dance of reflection over the water that was mesmerizing.
Cape Horn, Washington. Taken in the early morning after an overnight rainstorm began to clear. I have always loved this overlook and really enjoy the drama that unfolded on this morning with the rising sun and breaking clouds.
